These are diverse Glass Gem Corn phenotypes, ranging from the truly multicolored rainbow corn to those with predominantly single colors.
We cultivate them extensively, occasionally introducing other traits to maintain diversity.
The inclusion of candy stripe varieties further expands the range of phenotypes.
Corn cross-pollinates easily, so we do not grow other varieties of corn near the Glass Gem Corn.

No bulk discount is available for Glass Gem Corn.
Glass Gem Corn was developed in the 1980s by American farmer Carl Barnes, who crossbred three traditional Native American corn varieties: Pony Miniature Popcorn, Osage Red, and Osage Gray.
In 1994, Carl met and befriended Greg Schoen at a gathering of heirloom plants, and in 1995, he gifted Schoen a handful of Glass Gem seeds.
From the early 2000s, the two continued to plant Glass Gem in small plots.
Starting in 2005, Schoen's friend, Jose Lucero, began mixing this corn with Pueblo and Spanish varieties.
This crossbreeding resulted in smaller rainbow corn with deeper colors and increased hardiness.
In 2008, Schoen sent seeds to growers in India, Israel, Kenya, Mexico, and the United States. One recipient used the corn in an educational program, increasing interest in it.
In 2012, photos of Glass Gem Corn began to spread through word-of-mouth.
